Kamal Sadanah, who made his acting debut in 1992 with Bekhudi, talks about his time away from the screen and how he explored the world behind the camera.

In 1992, with Bekhudi, Kamal Sadanah became Kajol’s first hero in Bollywood, and she went on to achieve new heights of stardom as his career faded. He now admits that he was more enamoured with the world behind the camera, which is why he took a break from his acting career.

“Because I was born in a film atmosphere, the path has been lifetime for me.” That was the only information I had. From my birth to being launched to taking a vacation for a few years, it’s been quite a trip. “I got into adventure sports and travelled all over the world during those years,” says Kamal, who had moderate success with Divya Bharati in Rangoli (1993).

While satisfying his wanderlust, he used his time abroad to improve his talents and acquire new filming techniques.

“At that point, I returned to manufacturing.” I produced, directed, and edited indie films. I took a visual effects course that I had to use when shooting Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans (2014). That was also incredible. After that, I took an animation school and opened a small business that specialised in pre-visualizations. Now I’m resuming my acting career. So, it’s been a complete circle for me,” says the actor, whose director father Brij Sadanah committed himself after shooting his mother and sister when he was younger.

He’s attempting to relaunch his acting career, and he’s sifting through the projects that come his way. “I’ve signed some fascinating film deals, and I’m trying to go into the OTT sector as well.” Because of the epidemic, there have been some delays, but I’m hoping things pick up shortly,” says the actor, who will begin filming on Pippa next month.
