As the temperature rises to the apogee of the thermometer this summer, there is a greater risk of having ailments, health problems, and seasonal infections as the immune system weakens. In this instance, it’s critical to keep track of what we should avoid in order to stay healthy.

 

Dr. Dixa Bhavsar, an Ayurveda specialist, discusses what Ayurveda suggests avoiding during the summer to avoid sunstroke and other summer ailments such as diarrhoea, hypotension (low blood pressure), dehydration, acidity, headaches, burning sensations, and so on in an Instagram post.

Drinking water stored in a copper jar, which is typically regarded effective in nature, should be avoided during the summer, according to the expert. It is heated, which is the reason for this. “Acidity, inflammation, migraines, and heat difficulties should all be avoided.” Instead, choose water preserved in earthen and silver pots,” she said.

Curd consumption

The expert stated that curd is naturally heated, which is contrary to popular belief. Our digestion is weaker in the summer, and since curd is harder to digest, she recommends buttermilk and lassi as alternatives.

Excessive physical activity

Exercise is unquestionably essential for staying fit on a daily basis. Excessive activity, according to the expert, drains energy, and because energy levels are low due to high temperatures, it should be avoided.

“Excessive exertion can cause dehydration, tiredness, and hypotension,” she added. So, avoid strenuous activity and instead focus on soothing yoga and pranayamas.”

Carbonated drinks and caffeine

“Caffeine causes greater heat in the body, which leads to increased inflammation,” the expert noted. During the summer, herbal cooling drinks are advised instead. Carbonated beverages exacerbate dehydration and make you thirstier. They also include sugar, which contributes to weight gain (calories) and fatigue.

Natural cooling agents like bael sharbat, fennel sharbat, vetiver water, and coriander water are healthier choices that keep us cool.
