Kunhali Marakkar, the famed naval chieftain of the Zamorin of Calicut who is credited with organising the first naval defence of the Indian coast, is the subject of Mohanlal’s film. Marakkar is played by Mohanlal, who is noted for his versatility and adaptability to any role.

The first film to be released on the big screen in Kerala in six months, “Marakkar: Lion of Arabian Sea,” directed by the acclaimed director Priyadarshan, is set to be released on Wednesday, but the producer of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s award-winning film, “Marakkar: Lion of Arabian Sea,” directed by the acclaimed director Priyadarshan, is considering an OTT release.

Antony Perumbavoor, the film’s producer, told the media here on Monday that he was looking at all options, including an OTT distribution. “See, this film has been delayed for a long time, and we just cannot afford to wait much longer,” Preumbavoor said. “We’ve spoken with Amazon Prime. If the choice is taken to follow the OTT route, no theatrical release will take place.”

“Marakkar, the Lion of the Arabian Sea” received three honours at the 67th National Film Awards, which were hosted in New Delhi on Monday: Best Feature Film, Best Special Effects, and Best Costume.

The storey revolves around Kunhali Marakkar, a legendary naval leader of the Zamorin of Calicut who is credited with organising the first naval defence of the Indian coast. Marakkar is played by Mohanlal, who is noted for his versatility and adaptability to any role.

The film stars thespians Madhu and Manju Warrier, as well as Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty and a slew of British and Chinese performers.

With many producers dissatisfied with the new laws limiting the audience to 50% of each movie theatre’s seating capacity, and the Malayalam film public being accustomed to OTT releases, many others, like Perumbavoor, are considering OTT releases.
