August looks like a power packed month. Given that Indian Independece Day also falls in this month, OTT players are also looking at offering entertainment that has flavours of nationalism. Here is the list of some of the most promising web series and movies that one can look forward to on ZEE5, MX Players, AltBalaji, Disney + Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video. While we are looking to see something on Netflix too but at the time of compling this list, we could not come across anything promising on this platform
1. ‘Dial 100’ – 6th August
Platform: ZEE5
The story of Dial 100 unfolds in one night and warns the audience about how one phone call can change everything and turn everyone’s life upside down. While Manoj Bajpayee will be seen in a race against time to save his family, Neena Gupta will be seen in a dark role where her character is willing to go to any extent to avenge her son’s death.

2. ‘200 – Halla Ho’ – 20th August
Platform: ZEE5
The film is about 200 Dalit women who united and took law and justice in their own hands by lynching a gangster/robber/serial rapist in open court. Inspired by true events, this was the rarest of rare cases in India’s justice system and the movie goes on to uncover the shocking events and circumstances which led the 200 women to take such a drastic step to seek justice.

3. Engineering Girls, Season 2 – 27th August
Platform: ZEE5
The second season of the show revolves around the lives of three students, Maggu, Saabu and Kiara, who’re currently in their final year of Engineering. It’s a modern-day college drama with a fresh take on their hostel lives and the dynamics that come along, the nitty-gritties of their friendship, and their newly introduced love lives. The journey follows the misadventures of their daily lives and how they work out through every situation to make their dreams come true.

The show primarily revolves around The Angre family – The first family of The business in Mumbai. Set in present-day Mumbai, CARTEL tells the story of 5 crime-lords based in different areas of the city, how they carry out their illegal operations & how political, judiciary & corporate bodies are closely intertwined with the underworld of contemporary times.

Bhuj: The pride of India is a war action movie. It was to release last year but could not make it due to the pandemic. Ajay Devgn plays IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who was in charge of the Bhuj airport at the time of the war.

6. Shershaah, August 12
Platform: Amazon Prime Video
It is the other patriotic movie that will be releasing this month. It is biographical war film directed by Vishnuvardhan. In this movie Sidharth Malhotra plays the role of Major Batra and the movie will look at Kargil War from his perspective. He would be sharing screen space with Kiara Advani in this movie.
7. Bigg Boss OTT, August 8
Platform: Voot
The biggest reality show in India has a big twist. The show will be hosted on an OTT platform first and then make it on TV. There are many names that are being floated. It is also said that the contestants are now been quarantined in a hotel in Mumbai. Karan Johar will be the host of the OTT version.
8. What IF, August 11
Platform: Disney + Hotstar
