Climax Studio, the Korean production studio behind popular K-dramas including Hellbound and D.P, is scheduled to direct a brand-new program.

According to a report by The Korea Times, the studio has given the green light for a television version of Lee Chung-critically hyun’s praised 2015 short film Bargain.

Bargain is a catastrophe thriller K-drama that follows the aftermath of a catastrophic earthquake, according to reports. It will follow a group of survivors locked in a building who must haggle for black market commodities to stay alive. According to The Korea Times, while the adaptation will incorporate allusions from the source material, the series will reportedly depart from the original.

Jin Sun-kyu (Vincenzo, Kingdom) has been cast as the primary character Hyung-su, who miraculously escaped the calamity while being on the point of death. “I have a strong sense it will be a fantastic production.” “I was desperate for the part when I learned it would be shot in one take,” he stated in a statement.

“I’m also excited to work with director Jeon Woo-sung, who was involved in the original film’s production, and actress Jun, who has a lot of enthusiasm,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jun Jong-seo (Money Heist) will play Joo-young, a mercenary broker who becomes involved in the black market while attempting to profit from the calamity. “It’s an honour to be a part of Bargain’s feature-length film, which has gotten a lot of attention,” she remarked of her casting. “Taking up a position as one of the project’s cornerstones means a lot to me.”

In the next months, further concrete facts, such as Bargain’s release date and the remainder of the supporting cast, should be revealed. The show is expected to launch in the second half of 2022.
