The Kashmir Files

The Kashmir Files, a film by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri based on the flight of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s, has elicited emotions that no one has seen in a long time. The film’s screenings are sold out all around the world, from India to the United States and Australia. Not only has this picture really brought audiences back to theatres in the post-Covid age, but it has also brought the country’s residents closer together than ever before.

‘The Kashmir Files’ has also reached a major milestone in terms of box office receipts. The film, which stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumar and was made on a minimal budget, has grossed nearly Rs 67.35 crore globally in only five days. What’s more shocking is that the film’s second-day earnings are roughly four times higher than its first-day earnings. The Kashmir Files, according to cinema trade expert Taran Adarsh, has become the most successful Hindi film of the post-pandemic era. While the whole country, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is discussing the phenomena that this film has sparked, Bollywood has been deafeningly silent about its popularity.

Aside from Kangana Ranaut and Akshay Kumar, no other major Bollywood star has spoken out or tweeted about the film. Kangana Ranaut recently chastised the Hindi film industry for its “pin-drop quiet” on The Kashmir Files, claiming that the film’s box office success has debunked assumptions and preconceived notions about the types of films that can succeed in the post-pandemic era.

“Please observe the pin-drop quiet in the film business on The Kashmir Files,” Kangana said in a lengthy Instagram post. Not only is the material excellent, but so is the business. The ratio of investment to profit might be such a case study that it becomes the year’s most successful and lucrative picture… Bullydawood aur unke chamche sadme mein chale gaye hai” “Not a word sari duniya dekh rahi hai inko lekin phir bhi not a word,” she wrote at the end of her message (the whole world is watching but not them). The clock is ticking!”

Shaktiman is well-known. Mukesh Khanna also poked fun at Bollywood for failing to promote the film. “Agar ye bade-bade promoters film ko promote nahin karate hain to, film ko promote kariye,” he remarked. Industry mein pata nahin kyon log khud ko Bharat se alag prove karte hain hamaari. (Promote the film if these large promoters fail to do so.) I’m not sure why individuals in our sector demonstrate themselves differently than others in India.)”

Referring to the reaction to ‘The Kashmir Files,’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the film has shaken the “entire ecosystem” that purports to be the torchbearer of freedom of speech yet does not want the truth to be exposed.
