Not just for adults, but also for children, summer may be stressful. During the hot and humid season, children are susceptible to a variety of health concerns, including allergies and infections.
Dr Suresh Birajdar, neonatologist and paediatrician at Motherhood Hospital in Kharghar, stated that high humidity combined with heat might make things worse. He goes over various warning signs and symptoms that parents should be aware of.
Exhaustion, headaches, dizziness, and weakness are some of the symptoms caused by extended exposure to high temperatures. To treat hyperthermia, use water or ice packs to cool down the child’s body. Cover your head with a hat or cap whether working or playing outside.
Poisoning from food
This occurs as a result of consuming tainted food or drink. The warm, humid weather encourages germs to flourish, which can taint food. Stomach discomfort, nausea, diarrhoea, and vomiting are some of the symptoms. So, stay away from roadside food, as well as stale or raw food.
Dehydration
During the summer, youngsters sweat a lot and lose a lot of water and salts. Staying hydrated is necessary to replenish this. Coconut water, buttermilk, and lemon water are some wonderful summer hydration alternatives for kids.
Sunburn
The skin of a youngster might be damaged by too much sun exposure. It causes reddening, irritation, blistering, and peeling, among other things. Do not expose your children to the sun without first administering sunscreen to them. Additionally, youngsters should avoid going out between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Rashes
Children are prone to rashes, blisters, infections, and allergies. Eczema is a skin condition that worsens in the summer due to perspiration, sun exposure, and increased oil secretion. As a result, your youngster may get a skin rash. Consult a doctor to determine the best course of action.
Parents might use a cold compress on the afflicted region to relieve skin irritation. During the summer, encourage your children to dress in loose-fitting cotton clothing. Without contacting a doctor, avoid using any skin products.
