According to reports, three The Penthouse stars – Yoon Jong-hoon, Shin Eun-kyung, and Um Ki-joon – as well as Men Are Men actress Hwang Jung-eum – have been cast in The Escape of The Seven.
Following the claims, local broadcaster SBS stated that they were “positively assessing” the series’ creation and subsequent transmission on the station, according to Korea JoongAng Daily. If the conversations go well, further information regarding the show’s entire cast and eventual launch date should be available in the following months.
The Penthouse, which ended its three-season run in September 2021, follows a group of wealthy families as they compete for top-notch real estate and education. Lee Ji-ah, Kim So-yeon, Eugene, Kim Young-dae, and others appeared in the film.
Kim Young-dae earlier hailed his time on the series as a “unique experience” because of his part as Joo Seok-hoon, the son of the show’s antagonist Joo Dan-tae (Uhm). “This was such a great experience because it was my first time playing as one character for such a long period,” he remarked, as translated by Soompi. “We shared all the joys and pains of that period together over the last year and a half, so I’ve become connected.”
In other K-drama news, SBS recently released a new trailer for Woori the Virgin, their next satirical romantic comedy K-drama. Woori The Virgin is a South Korean version of the American romantic comedy series Jane the Virgin, which was inspired on a Venezuelan melodrama.
