On June 2, Prithviraj’s newest film, Jana Gana Mana, will be released on Netflix. The film, directed by Queen’s Dijo Jose Antony, was released in theatres in April to favourable reviews.

The film tackles some serious sociopolitical issues. The teaser for the film implied that it will be about an armed uprising headed by Prithviraj’s character. In the teaser, Prithviraj looks to be a dejected man who has accepted his powerlessness in the face of political power.

“Banknotes will be prohibited here, and voting will be prohibited if necessary.” Nothing will be questioned. “Because it’s India, right?” Prithviraj asks a corrupt politician who mocks the concept of justice and fairness. Prithviraj’s talk with the politician is punctuated with high-octane action sequences. We witness young people violently protesting against the system, officers grumbling about their inability to do their responsibilities due to political pressure, and a man who appears to have suffered a significant loss for not surrendering his integrity and ethics.

“Like Salim Kumar in Dijo’s debut film Queen, where he raises some pertinent questions about gender equality, Prithviraj portrays an advocate in Jana Gana Mana and gives spectators goosebumps by raising pertinent questions about the country’s deep-seated casteism and racism.”

Supriya Menon, Prithviraj’s wife, is financing the film through their home production label, Prithviraj Productions. The film is considered to have been a box office success.

Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu were also reunited in Jana Gana Mana following the duo’s box office smash Driving Licence in 2019.
