Netflix’s popular Korean drama Squid Game has been officially renewed for a second season

‘Squid Game,’ the blockbuster Korean survival drama series, has been officially renewed for a second season on Netflix, with writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk promising “a whole new round is coming” to viewers.

Song Gi-hun or player #456, played by Lee Jung-jae, and The Front Man, a mystery figure played by Lee Byung-hun, will both reprise their roles, according to Hwang. Gong Yoo, who played the nameless figure of a man in a suit with ‘ddakji’ who pulls participants into the ‘Squid Game,’ was also teased.

Hwang previously stated that he was in negotiations with Netflix for “season 2 as well as season 3” six months ago.

The Netflix original series ‘Squid Game,’ which debuted on September 17, 2021, immediately became a global smash, topping charts all over the world and became the most-watched Netflix series of all time.

The official summary of the series, according to the creators, is as follows: “People in danger who are in desperate need of money receive a strange invitation to join the game. 456 people from many walks of life are trapped in a secret location to play games for a chance to earn 45.6 billion won. Every game is a typical Korean children’s game like Red Light, Green Light, however losing results in death. What will the winner be, and what is the point of this game?”

Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, HoYeon Jung, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae, Kim Joo-ryoung, and Indian actor Anupam Tripathi also appeared in the enormously famous K-drama.
