Some Bollywood actresses, according to Sona Mohapatra, can’t even speak Hindi correctly. Additionally, the singer applauded South Indian movies for embracing their culture.
The fact that certain Bollywood actors don’t speak Hindi well despite working in the Hindi film business has been dubbed a “shame” by Sona Mohapatra. Sona claimed that whereas Hindi film performers struggle even to speak the language correctly, South Indian cinema celebrates its culture.
Sona will soon be featured in the documentary Shut Up Sona, which she defines as a feminist satire on the music and Bollywood industries. Sona, who has recently been concentrating on live performances rather than working in Bollywood as a playback singer, made it clear that this does not imply that she is leaving the sector.
When asked to comment on the issue over the use of Hindi, Sona told India Today, “One thing I can say is that when I watched RRR and Pushpa, I literally started dancing and hopping, which made the “foofa” mob feel uneasy. Well done! The effort, art direction, and casting were all top-notch. It was wonderful to witness how they honored their culture.”
“I must admit that there are actors who can hardly speak Hindi, which is unfortunate since a Hindi cinema star should be fluent in the language despite the fact that Bollywood has some fantastic stars. In South Asian cinema, Indian aesthetics are highly prominent.”
It follows a discussion between Ajay Devgn and actor Sudeep, also known as Kiccha Sudeep, on whether Hindi should be considered the “national language.” Following Sudeep’s comments that Hindi can no longer be considered the “national language” in light of recent successes in South Indian cinema, Ajay tweeted Sudeep to inquire as to why he continues to subtitle his movies in Hindi. In a later statement, Sudeep had made it clear that the context in which he had made the comment was totally different and that it was not intended to spark discussion.
