‘India Today Originals’ is the new venture by India Today Group where in original series and features will be produced in the non-fiction space for streaming and audio platforms.
This platform will release 2 documentary series to be showcased on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video respectively- ‘Indian Predator Diary of a Serial Killer’ and ‘Dancing on the Grave’, both in this year. The trailer of the first one is due to stream on Netflix on September 7.
In todays time and age, the need for strong, authentic and original content has gone up, and India Today, with its years long experience in reporting, stands to gain and provide the audience the true picture and content they desire to watch.
Kapil Purie, Vice Chairperson of India Today Group writes, “When I watch good documentary content on streaming platforms, its very clear to me that this was a very logical step for us. We tell the best stories of India day in out at breaking news speed, so why not produce the best stories in a more expansive format with more details for streaming as well? India Today’s business head originals and special projects Chandni Ahlawat Dabas will lead the vertical. She has a lot of experience in ad filmmaking, documentary production, feature film production, fiction TV and news TV to make business and creative decisions for this new vertical.
