In an official statement on Twitter, Disney plus Hotstar tweeted, “Starting 31st March, HBO content will be unavailable on Disney + Hotstar. You can continue spanning over 100,000 hours of TV Shows and movies in 10 languages and coverage of major global sporting events.”

The events that led to this was that in November 2022, Disney + Hotstar fired then CEO Bob Chapek amid declining profits and share prices. Bob Iger, former Disney CEO was brought back who started cutting costs and restricting the platform.

And it looks as if Disney plus Hotstar was unable to negotiate terms with HBO. This would mean several popular shows such as ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘The Succession’, ‘Band of Brothers’, ‘Obama’, ‘The Gilded Age’, ‘The Wire’ and several others won’ t be available on this platform.

There’s another shocking news for sports lovers, the IPL 2023 will not be streaming in 2023 on Hotstar after years.

It is also possible that Amazon Prime Video will be streaming HBO content in India. Several originals such as ‘The flight attendant’ and ‘Pretty Little Liars’ are already available on this platform.
