Roger Crawford once said, “Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional,” and this is exactly how I felt, when I heard Lisa Ray talk at an event organized by FICCI FLO, Ludhiana by the 12th Chairperson, Ankita Gupta.

To give you a brief background, Lisa Ray was born as ‘Lisa Rani Ray’ on 4th April, 1972 in Toronto, Canada. Lisa’s father is a Bengali and her mother, Jennifer Dutta, is Polish. She is married to Jason Dehni, a management consultant and has two loving daughters.

Lisa spoke freely about her career as a model and how she bagged the opportunity of being on the cover page of Glad Rags. She emphasized  the fact that she was sure about the quality of life she wanted, she did not want a stereotype life with a set pattern. Acting enabled her to find her freedom and embrace the ‘nomadic’ journey she wishes everyone should try out at some point in their lives.

She encouraged the women to find their own identity, not what the world puts on you. Lisa also talked about the importance of physical and mental health. The beautiful actor, the philanthropist and the writer, inspired the women to master their mind and not let unnecessary thoughts bully them. Her book ‘Close to the Bone’ was discussed along with her movie, ‘The Water’. She motivated the audience to live their lives like a lotus, even though surrounded by murky waters, yet untouched and unscathed in its beauty.

It was indeed an honor for me to meet ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Lisa Ray. Her quote, “Don’t waste your suffering” absolutely holds true on meeting this wonderful star and it was indeed a ray of light to meet her in person.
