On the opening day of the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, we see our Bollywood diva shining. I am talking about none other than Sara Ali Khan, who debuts at Cannes this year.
Sara, who was last seen in Gaslight, wore a handwoven ivory lehenga, designed by the very best Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Sara looked royal and elegant. The skirt had an intricate shadow work embroidery, adorning each unique panel with several designs that are signature to the couture house of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. The blouse was full of pearls, crystals and Resham work.
To add to her look, the outfit had a double drape. One was an enchanting one-shoulder drape and the other a long head veil. Both the drapes had beautiful and intricate shadow work, with the head veil embellished with tiny shadow dots and intricate borders. The drapes in Sara’s ensemble were styled and draped by Dolly Jain.
Sara Ali Khan states, “It’s a traditional and modern handmade design by Abu and Sandeep Khosla. I’ve always been proud of my Indianness. It embodies who I am. It’s fresh, it’s modern and also has traditional roots.”
Sara took to Instagram to share pictures of her first look and captioned it, “You Cannes do it.” When asked how she was feeling, she candidly replied, “Nervous, I ‘ve always aspired to be here someday, and I can’t believe it I am here.”
The film festival will kickstart from May 16th and go on till 27rd May. Anushka Sharma, Manushi Chillar and Esha Gupta will also be making their debut at Cannes 2023.
