Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is the story of two families, the Chawla’s and Dubey’s. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the movie released on 2nd June. Starring Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan, the film is about a couple wanting to be independent of their families. They want to be on their own when one fine day all hell breaks loose when a Pandit family realizes they’ve eaten a cake with eggs.
Kapil is a yoga instructor, Soumya a tutor and they have been married for 2 years. They are constricted for space and the nephew has left no scope for romance in their lives. To get privacy, the only way is out of the existing house. They pretend a fake divorce.
Things go hay-wire when Saumya discovers a government scheme to get a flat. But there’s a catch-Kapil’s family owns a house, he’s ineligible. A dubious agent conspires that women who are divorced can apply for the same under the women quota and they can remarry once the house is allotted.
The first half of the movie keeps the viewers going, there are moments of fun and laughter but the plot loses thread after the interval. Vicky Kaushal essays the role of a small-town boy well. Sara has tried her best too, to pass off as a Punjabi girl. The movie passes off as a one-time watch with funny one-liners and jokes yet its far from being a huge crowd puller.
