Ah! Potatoes, so yummy, so much a part of any vegetarian’s daily diet. They are easily available, well priced and delicious. They can be fried, baked or added to any vegetable. But are they good for us?

For one, they are high in carbohydrates and have a high glycemic index, which spikes the blood sugar levels in our body. On the other hand, they also are high in potassium, iron, vitamin C and B6. The reason for this debate is on how we cook our favorite ‘allos.’

If you deep fry them for those finger-licking French fries and chips, then they are damaging. But if we are using an air-fryer or making mashed potatoes, then they are actually healthy for us.

Talking about carbohydrates, these are actually healthy as they provide the fuel for our body. Carbs actually get digested faster than fats and proteins. No carbs in the diet make us feel drained.

According to health experts, the right food combinations are important. Do not combine potatoes with cheese or mayo. You can actually lose wight by eating potatoes. Research has established you can lose 0.45 kg daily by only eating potatoes.

Therefore, this potassium packed powerhouse promotes gut health, muscle growth and prevents water retention. It also keeps you full longer. Another study shows, they even help in shrinking fat on our cells.

To conclude, eat those potatoes but eat them right.
