World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on 27th September to promote and encourage tourism in India. &TV artists and wanderlusts talk about their favourite destinations and must-visit places in their states. These include Aayudh Bhanushali (Krishna), Neha Joshi (Yashoda), RJ Mohit (Manoj) in Doosri Maa, Geetanjali Mishra (Rajesh), Charrul Malik (Rusa) in Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, and Shubhangi Atre (Angoori Bhabi), Saanand Verma (Anokhe Lal Saxena) in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. Neha Joshi from Maharashtra, aka Yashoda in Doosri Maa, says, ” Hailing from Maharashtra, Mumbai holds a special place in my heart as it is also my Karm Bhoomi. The Gateway of India, Marine Drive, and Worli Sea Link grace the city with picturesque charm, each bearing captivating stories. Tourists must indulge in Mumbai’s iconic street foods, including vada pav, pav bhaji, and pani puri at Juhu Chowpatty. One of my favourite Maharashtra destinations is Nashik, my ‘Janma Bhoomi.’ Nestled along the banks of the Godavari River, it is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site. Renowned as the “Wine Capital of India,” Nashik houses over half of the nation’s vineyards and wineries. Moreover, I frequently visit Mahabaleshwar, Panchgani, Igatpuri, and Lonavala with my family, relishing moments of relaxation amidst the lush green hills.” Geetanjali Mishra from Uttar Pradesh, aka Rajesh Singh from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, says, ” Uttar Pradesh boasts a wealth of historical sites like the Taj Mahal, Rumi Darwaza, Panch Mahal, and Chunar Fort, making it a haven for history and architecture enthusiasts. It’s undeniably one of India’s most beautiful states, with several must-visit cities attracting tourists from around the globe. Among these, my favourite includes Varanasi, my hometown, renowned as the city of Lord Shiva, where visiting the world-famous Kashi Vishwanath temple is a must. The Taj Mahal in Agra has always been on my bucket list, representing the pinnacle of love and architectural splendour. Uttar Pradesh’s diverse cuisine and street food offerings delight my taste buds. Litti Chokha, Choora Matar, Tamatar Chaat, Kachori, and Samosa, paired with kulhad wali chai, are culinary experiences to savour.” Shubhangi Atre from Madhya Pradesh, aka Angoori Bhabi from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, says, ” Madhya Pradesh is the heart of India and home to a plethora of historic gems, making it a must-visit destination for global tourists. The state is renowned for its cleanliness and offers visitors a warm and homely experience. Its remarkable historical attractions are the intricately carved Hindu and Jain temples of Khajuraho, celebrated for their stunning sculptures. Choosing one as my favourite is tough for me. For nature enthusiasts, visiting the eastern Bandhavgarh and Kanha national parks is a must, where you can witness the wonders of wildlife and pristine landscapes. I believe Incredible Madhya Pradesh continues to exude the essence of medieval majesty, drawing travellers from far and wide.”
Mohit Sharma from Rajasthan, aka Manoj in Doosri Maa, says, “The Pink City boasts some of the world’s most exquisite heritage properties, charming architecture, and ancient thoroughfares. Everywhere you turn, a harmonious blend of beauty and culture awaits, a sight to soothe your senses. Having grown up in Jaipur, I am continuously enchanted by the city’s wealthy culture and rich heritage. When in Jaipur, visitors should not miss the chance to marvel at iconic landmarks like the Hawa Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Jaigarh Fort, Ram Niwas Garden, and Jal Mahal. Furthermore, Rajasthani cuisine holds a special place in my heart. I wholeheartedly recommend indulging in an authentic Rajasthani thali featuring delights like Daal Baati Churma and Makahnia Lassi. Your taste buds will thank you for this culinary journey through Rajasthan’s flavours.” Charrul Malik from Chandigarh, aka Rusa from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, says, “Chandigarh is beautiful. No matter where you are from, the people, the food, and the atmosphere make you feel at home. Punjab is a place I have visited numerous times, and I feel excited to be there. The state has several impressive forts, palaces, ancient monuments, and architectural marvels. A visit to the Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Sukhna Lake, and local markets is a must for all tourists. Chandigarh is famous for its food. One must try the evergreen Makke di Roti and Sarso ka Saag. Also, Amritsari Kulcha, Chole Bhature, Tandoori Chicken, and Punjab’s Famous Lassi, without which every meal is incomplete.” Aayudh Bhanushali from Gujarat, aka Krishna in Doosri Maa, says, “Gujarat, a state with cultural richness and distinctiveness, holds a special place in my heart. This region has abundant sacred sites, each playing a pivotal role in the state’s tourism. From the enchanting Great Rann of Kutch to the serene hills of Saputara, Gujarat beckons tourists with its breathtaking natural beauty. Before bidding farewell to this vibrant state, a visit to several iconic landmarks is a must, including the world’s tallest Statue of Unity, Sabarmati Ashram, Akshardham Temple, Kankaria Lake, Bhadra Fort, the Patang Kite Museum (the second kite museum in the world), and many more.” Saanand Verma from Bihar, aka Anokhe Lal Saxena in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, says, ” Bihar’s profound connections to Buddhism and Jainism make it an essential destination for tourists and seekers of inner peace. This unique blend of religion, spirituality, history, and literature sets the state apart. While every city in Bihar holds its treasures, some of the most renowned include Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Patna, Vaishali, Pawapuri, and Nalanda. Bihar’s cultural tapestry is woven with vibrant threads like the exquisite Madhubani and Tikuli paintings. The state’s festivals and fairs, such as Chhat Puja, Rajgir Mahotsav, and Sonepur Mela, offer a visually captivating experience. With its rich cultural and historical heritage, Bihar has something to offer every traveller, and I take immense pride in being a Bihari.”
