The 74th edition of British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards 2021 were announced virtually for the first time in London’s Royal Albert Hall on 10 and 11 April 2021. The awards were broadcasted on BBC around the world. The two day event was hosted by Clara Amfo, Dermot O Leary and Edith Bowman.
The BAFTA awards on Sunday night (April 11) paid tribute to two iconic bollywood actors’ who died last year in April. Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor were among late screen icons and were honored. The fans took to social media as they were left emotional and expressed their grief and pride as the two Indian actors were honored at the prestigious awards.
The tribute, in the form of a video clip, was a homage paid to over 40 artists who belong to the world of cinema and lost their life last year, including actors, writers, directors and technicians. The video played at the awards night started with a tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.
BAFTA also paid tribute In Memorium Segment to actor’s Chadwick Boseman, Sean Connery, Kirk Douglas, Ian Holm, George Segal, Barbara Windsor, Christopher Plummer, Yaphet Kotto, Barbara Windsor, Alan Parker, Max von Sydow, Kirk Douglas.
