The film shooting of director Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan has been resumed in Puducherry. And as per the reports, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aishwarya Lekshmi have joined the team to shoot for their respective parts. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will play a dual role in the film, Mandakini Devi and Nandhini in the film. While Aishwarya Lekshmi role of a bold woman, Poonguzhali in the film.
The star-studded film features an ensemble of actors — Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Prakash Raj, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others. Actor Karthi is also expected to soon join the team. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with the makers had recently released a new poster of the film.
Director Mani Ratnam had earlier revealed that the majority of the shooting of the film has been completed and the film will be released in theatres.
The film is based on a Tamil novel of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s Ponniyin Selvan. The film is bankrolled by Madras Talkies in association with Lyca Productions. The music is composed by AR Rahman and the dialogues are written by Jayamohan, with Thotta Tharani and Wasiq Khan as the production designers. Brinda will be the choreographer, while the cinematography is handled by Ravivarman.
