Kangana Ranaut to helm Emergency based on former PM of India, Indira Gandhi

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut announced her next directorial venture on Wednesday, June 23. The actress will be helming a film based on Indira Gandhi, Emergency. As a director, this will be Kangana’s second film. Earlier, she helmed Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.

Kangana Ranaut took to the social media platform, Koo, and mentioned that no one can direct this film better than her.

She will be helming India’s first women Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s biopic,  Emergency. Announcing the same, she wrote on Koo, “Pleased to wear the director’s hat again, after working on Emergency for more than a year I finally figured no one can direct it better than me. Collaborating with fabulous writer Ritesh Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments I am determined to do it, my excitement is high. This is going to be a tremendous journey, my leap to another league #Emergency #Indira.”

She also revealed that the project will be penned by Ritesh Shah. He has also written Kangana’s upcoming film Dhaakad.

Kangana Ranaut in an earlier statement mentioned that,“It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi. It is a grand period film. To be precise, it is a political drama that will help my generation to understand the socio-political landscape of current India.”

Kangana Ranaut’s other projects        

Kangana Ranaut has several films lined up. She will be seen in the biopic Thalaivi of J Jayalalitha, film actress and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The actress also has Tejas in her kitty, in which she will essay the role of an Air Force pilot. Apart from these, she will be seen in the spy thriller Dhaakad, which also stars Arjun Rampal.
