Neil Nitin Mukesh remembers late legendary singer-grandfather Mukesh on his 95th birth anniversary

Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, on Thursday, July 22 remembered his late legendary singer grandfather, Mukesh on his 95th birth anniversary. The actor took to his Twitter handle, and shared a black-and-white picture of the legendary singer, and penned a heartfelt note for him. He quoted the evergreen song from the cult classic ‘Mera Naam Joker,’ of the iconic singer ‘Kal Khel Me Hum Ho Na Ho.’

Neil tweeted, “Kal khel Mein Hum Ho Na Ho Gardish Mein Taarein Rahenge Sada. Today is My Beloved Grandfather, Mukesh Ji’s, 98th Birth Anniversary. He is not amongst us, but our love for him and his iconic songs have kept him alive. I feel blessed & honored to carry on his legacy. #Mukesh98.”

Mukesh was considered among the most acclaimed playback singers of the Hindi cinema in the 60s, proclaimed as ‘Voice of the millennium.’

Mukesh won National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for his song ‘Kai Baar Yuhi Dekha Hai’ from the film ‘Rajnigandha’ which was released in 197. He sang for Dev Anand and was the first voice of Rishi Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, Dharmendra, and Rajesh Khanna.

‘Mera Joota Hai Japani’, ‘Kya Khoob Lagti Ho,’ ‘Jeena Yaha Marna Yaha’, are a few of his iconic songs.

Meanwhile, Mukesh’s son and Neil’s father- Nitin Mukesh is also an acclaimed playback singer of the Hindi film industry, known for his work with music directors like Laxmikant Pyarelal, Nadeem Shravan, Mohammed Zahur Khayyam, Bappi Lahiri, Anand Milind Rajesh Roshan, during the 1980s and 1990s.

The singer has lent his voice to many iconic Bollywood songs including ‘My Name is Lakhan’ and has voiced for actors like Anil Kapoor, Manoj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and many others.
