BTS members RM, Suga, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook were recently presented with Diplomat passports and a fountain pen by Korean President Moon Jae, who also presented them with appointment paper as they are recognized as “Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture.” The BTS, popularly known as the Bangthan Boys, received their appointment certificates on Tuesday. The new diplomatic passport received by the BTS boys comes with an ample of benefits for the group of seven members.

A diplomatic passport gives its holders benefits that ordinary passport holders do not have. In South Korea, President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, former presidents and their families, former prime ministers and their families, Speaker of the National Assembly, Foreign Minister, and civil servants appointed by the Foreign Minister are all granted diplomatic passports. And now that the BTS is subject to the Passport Act’s Enforcement Decree as from now on they also hold a Diplomatic Passport.

With diplomatic passports, BTS members can now obtain visa exemption from 199 nations and also get into those countries without a visa. BTS can use their new diplomatic passports to enter and exit South Korea for exceptional diplomatic purposes. The members can use their personal passports for vacations, tours, and other non-diplomatic events.
