Since his breakthrough movie Rang De Basanti (2006), which starred Aamir Khan, actor Chandan Roy Sanyal’s career had stalled. However, OTT channels have revolutionised his business. He got his moment to shine in web series like Ashram and anthology films like Ray, as well as the current direct-to-OTT movie Sanak.

“I will say that OTT offered me more possibilities to establish myself than cinema,” the happy actor says. They didn’t completely investigate me. What OTT has done and is doing for me right now… I don’t have time to take on any additional tasks. There’s a lot of it heading my way.”

The 41-year-old confesses, though, that he is very careful not to overexpose himself on the internet.

” I’d like to stay in shape. My guru advised me to maintain it that way. This is the first time something like this has happened to me. I don’t want to become exhausted from too much labour. Sanyal says, “I want to juice it properly, araam se.” In Sanak, the actor had the chance to show off his acting chops as an out and out bad guy against Vidyut Jammwal, for which he received excellent accolades.

Sanyal adds he “felt done before, but feels nourished today” on a philosophical note.

“I was simply surviving with a few things on my plate, in terms of personalities and roles,” he continues. For breakfast, I’m having Italian and Indian dishes. It used to be merely a couple square meals every day. I couldn’t have lasted long on it. My meals used to be fairly little, but now I’m not so sure.”
