Filmmaker, producer, and photographer Antony Eastman died following a cardiac arrest on, Saturday, July 3. He was 75. Antony was undergoing treatment at Thrissur Medical Hospital, Kerala where he breathed his last. He is survived by his wife Mary, son Ganji and daughter Mini.
Antony Eastman started his career as a still photographer and eventually started directing films. His debut directorial venture was through the movie Inaye Thedi in 1981. Some of his acclaimed films include Varnatheru, Ice Cream, Mrudula, and Vayal. His last film was ‘Ambada Njane’.
Antony was born in 1946 in Chovvannur near Kunamkulam in Kerala. He began his career as a photographer in the mid-60s and then he set up a studio named Eastman in Ernakulam.
He rose to fame by clicking photos for magazines and newspapers. It was his work that made people call him Antony Eastman.
Antony also worked as a writer for films such as Thaskara Veeran, Rachana, Manikyan, and Ee Thanalil Ithiri Neram. He had also worked as a still photographer for 13 films like Ea Manohara Theeram, RareeramGeetham, Thammil Thammil, among others. Apart from these, he also acted in a film.
Many celebs from the Malayalam film industry remembered him and paid their condolences to his family.
