Telugu and Tamil film dubbing artist and singer Ghantasala Ratnakumar passed away after suffering a massive cardiac arrest on Thursday, June 10. The artist breathed his last at a private hospital in Chennai. As per the reports, Ratnakumar was admitted to the hospital after he tested positive for novel corona virus but he got tested negative for the virus a few days ago. However, he was suffering from Kidney related ailments and was undergoing dialysis for several months.
Ratnakumar’s demise has sent shock waves across the cinema industry. Many people from the fraternity paid their last respects to the artist.
Ghantasala Ratnakumar’s dubbing career spanning around four decades, he dubbed for over 1,500 films in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. He also dubbed his voice for over 10,000 episodes of TV serials and around 50 documentaries. He is a record holder dubbing artist, his name was recorded in the India Book of Records for dubbing for eight hours non-stop.
Ghantasala Ratnakumar was the second son of legendary singer Ghantasala Venkatewararao. The legendary singer was married to Savitri and Late Saraladevi. He has 8 children – 4 daughters (Suguna, Shanthi, Shyamala, Meera) and 4 sons (VijayaKumar, RatnaKumar, Ravikumar, Sankarkumar).
