The series follows the life of common people who are lured by fame and fortune on a social media app called Escapye live, which hosts a 30 day contest with a prize money of three crores for the winner whose talent stands out.
Siddharth Kumar Tewary’ s show delves into the lives of common people who are glued to the app called Escaype Live. This app is like Tik- Tok where anyone can become a star by showcasing their talent. The show revolves around Ravi Gupta(Jaaved Jaferi), team leader Gia Bose(Waluscha D’Souza) ,content moderator Krishna(Siddharth) as well as the topmost internet sensations like the Fetish Girl(Plabita Borthakur), Darkie(Sumedh Mudgalkar), singing star Meena Kumari( Rohit Chandel), dancing young queen( Aadyaa Sharma) , Spider man of the show(Ritvik Sahore)and prankster Darkie(Sumedh Mudgalkar).
The story features a bunch of content creators ranging from a 11 year old Rajasthani girl to a prankster in Delhi who risk their lives, sanity and health to win. The show has its heart in the right place but the focus is on too many things. There is pre teen dancer who is given growth hormone injections, a transgender singer , a North -Eastern girl sexually exploited by her boss and an artist from Mumbai who is battling an inferiority complex.
The director has tried to create a real life show, however the show lacks finesse…the series is like an unfulfilled promise. It manages to a grave injustice to a great concept and the wonderful performances.
The show released on 20th May on Disney plus Hotstar and it deals with the dark side of social media.
