The festival of lights is just around the corner, and preparations are on in full swing. Harshali Zine and Nupur Joshi too have their plans ready. The actors spill the beans on what’s up their sleeves this Diwali, including what they are going to wear on the day of the festival.

“Diwali preparations and celebrations have toned down since Covid. So I’m going to just draw Rangoli and light diyas and binge on vegan sweets. As far as shopping and getting new outfits are concerned, I’m going to mix and match the traditional outfits which I already have. I will be wearing the saree which I wore for my elder sister’s wedding. I have beautifully modified it by adding a cape and accessorise it with jewellery that Bharatanatyam dancers flaunt. I already have such jewellery. My Maharashtrian nose pin will add to the whole look,” says the actor, known for TV shows such as Hitler Didi, CID, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Aahat, and the web series BOSS: Baap of Special Services.

Harshali is happy that unlike last year, this time people are at least being able to celebrate the occasion. “The government lifted the lockdown but Covid hasn’t gone so, this year too, celebrations are going to be quiet and we all should follow protocols. Exchange of pleasantries and gifts would happen via wefast for me. I’m also going to use this time to rest,” she adds.

Nupur, on the other hand, has planned a surprise for her family. “I’m surprising my dad , for Diwali, and travelling to Delhi because his birthday is also around that time. So, this time the celebrations are going to get double,” says the actor known for TV shows, Rakhi, Kumkum: Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, the film, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and a few short films.

The actor sounds excited talking about the fun this year. “This time I am going to wear my mom’s saree. It was a last minute decision,” she adds.

Nupur hopes this pandemic gets over soon, but, till then we should adjust to the new normal. “Though many are now fully vaccinated, but the infection is still there and spreading. So yes, enjoyment will be in full swing but keeping in mind the preventative guidelines,” she signs off.
