Streaming on Netflix, the series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ is a phenomenal series. Set in the background of the British era, pre- Independence times, this series took me back to the world of courtesans and Nawaabs. This 8-episode series is garnering attention worldwide.
Since its release on 1st May, it has been trending the No. 1 spot in India, No. 4 in UK, and No. 7 in the US on Netflix.
Heeramandi delves into the lives of tawaifs, who reigned as queens in the world of love, betrayl and intrigue. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has added a new dimension to the world of OTT, with flourishing sets and a mesmerizing narrative.
I saw this series, and I could not bat an eyelid. The characters, the storytelling, the narrative, the clothes, its totally worth binge watching. Manisha Koirala as Mallikajaan, has done an astounding job, and with her stern character, you can’t help but accept her as the queen mother.
Another character that steals the show, is Sonakshi Sinha, as she plays the negative role in this series. His transformation from a revenge seeking person to one that goes all out to support the Independence cause, is commendable.
This series is a treat for the eyes, I urge all my readers to watch it. You will love it.
