One of the latest additions on Netflix is the show Glamorous and it arrives amid Pride month. Marco Mejia, wants to make it big in the beauty industry and attracts the attention of Madolyn Addison, who owns a top-notch make up brand and lands up with a coveted job as her second assistant.
Marco in this series is a bright, young lad who has great ideas and does not hesitate in calling a spade a space. Madolyn is a classy, powerful entrepreneur who will go to any lengths to save the company she has built. Her son Chad, the sales head, who constantly craves for his mother’s approval is “gay, but not like…gay.” Her assistant, Venetia, a bi, has great ideas and is very competent in her job and awaits a promotion. I loved the role played by the LGBTQ community in saving the brand.
For me, it was a captivating show that delves into the lives of its various characters and explores the struggles faced by the LGBTQ+ community in the modern world. The series is a great mix of glitz, social issues and a compelling storyline. With great performances, I can’t wait for Season 2. I binged watch the show and how it develops. The friendships, the heart wrecks and how the entire team work together in times of crisis is admirable.
