Jung Ryeo Won and Lee Kyu Hyung will feature in an intriguing new drama together!
It was announced that both actors will star in the forthcoming drama “Let’s Start the Defense” (literal translation).
“Let’s Begin the Defense,” directed by Kang Min Gu of “Itaewon Class,” is a legal mystery drama about two public defenders who become involved in a serial murder case involving affluent elderly folks. The drama was written by Kim Dan, a rookie writer who received the Excellence Award at the Korea Story Contest, and is produced by Arc Media, the production firm behind “The King’s Affection” that is extending the local and worldwide base of K-content.
Jung Ryeo Won, who last worked on a project roughly two years ago, will play No Chak Hee, a former ace lawyer with the greatest success record who has been relegated to a public defence counsel. Her given name “Chak Hee” denotes “living a wonderful life,” but her middle name “No” reflects how she has departed from that expectation. She is someone who works tirelessly and will go to any length to win a case. However, a year ago, just as she was ready to be promoted to partner, her licence was almost cancelled after she became involved in a particular case. Her objective is to return to the legal company as soon as feasible.
Lee Kyu Hyung, who has played both good and bad characters, will play Jwa Shi Baek. He is a guy who is cold and brutal to the powerful yet sympathetic and compassionate to the vulneKang Min Gu rable. He could have been a judge, prosecutor, or lawyer at one of the top three law firms after graduating from law school, but he turned them all down and became a public defence lawyer instead. However, he has such a private existence that even his secretary, who has worked with him for many years, is unaware of it.
The drama’s producers expressed their delight at having cast Jung Ryeo Won and Lee Kyu Hyung, both of whom have extensive acting experience. Jung Ryeo Won, in particular, has previously appeared in court dramas such as “Witch’s Court” and “War of Prosecutors.” “We’re already looking forward to the intense acting rivalry between the two actors,” they continued.
