Koffee With Karan is one of the most talked about shows on TV and OTT since its inception and maximum controversies have arisen on “the couch.”
The show started in 2005 on Star World. Most Bollywood celebrities have been guests on this show in the last 17 years. The 7th season began last month on Disney+Hotstar.
Karan Johar has been immensely trolled for the show. He says, “I don’t know how much of the hate and trolling is actually about the show; it’s really more about the fact that a show like this exists and has this kind of abandon. A lot of hate sometimes is entertaining, because I wonder why are they cursing it so much, but also watching it? I read the threads on Twitter and other portals; reels and reels of discourse that people are having about KWK and I feel very moved and touched. I’m like, that’s a lot of time you have taken out of your lives to write such a long column on something you hated so much.”
The trolling has been openly discussed on the show. He feels he owes it to himself to talk about it. It’s cathartic for him.
Adding about the constant troll on Sex talk on the show, one user writes, “Karan Johar needs to stop talking about manifesting relationships. The needle is stuck.” To this Karan responded, “Like my own love life! Maybe that’s why! Any suggestions Ma’ m?
Another troll was, “If there was a drinking game where we had to take a shot every time Karan mentioned Alia’s name, we’d be drunk by the end of the show.” Karan gave a befitting reply, “Please don’t be sad about that! It’s a good name to take my friend! You try it! May turn out to be lucky for you as it is for me!”
