Nawazuddin Siddiqui blasted “false content-driven films” for fraudulently peddling the same old formula and expressed concern about the Indian streaming industry’s destiny.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who made a name for himself as a poster child for Indian streaming with films like Sacred Games and Serious Men, has expressed concern about the future of the OTT market, claiming that the same old ‘money-minded’ producers remain in charge.

He claims that these folks have no idea what good material is and that they keep selling the same recipe. Nawaz expressed his wish that individuals like this do not gain control of the streaming business.

“Frankly speaking, I believe they had a wonderful start, no question,” he told Bollywood Hungama, “But the issues emerge when experienced producers enter the fight.” It’s a business for them. I believe it is critical to maintain the way Netflix – and other OTTs – have aided young filmmakers and performers in India and given them international exposure. It’s a little alarming how things are moving right now. These large manufacturers simply care about profit; they have no concept of art.”

“Because they’ll bring the same old recipe that they’ve been repeating for decades,” Nawaz replied when asked why it worries him. There’s a hero, a heroine, and a villain; the hero and heroine are both attractive, and there’s no plot. Please, God, don’t let those folks inside this arena. My main issue is with formula. We’ve been doing it for 30 or 40 years and haven’t grown tired of it yet. This is an illustration of our ability to think.”

The actor added that while he doesn’t mind ‘commercial cinema,’ he can’t stand ‘false content-driven’ flicks. They have a dadi, a behen, a family, and a shaadi, he added, and they employ the same formula while pretending to be content-driven.
