Actor Parambrata Chatterjee claims that streaming services have presented his work in the Bengali film industry to audiences who are only familiar with him through Sujoy Ghosh’s “Kahaani” or other Hindi films. Vidya Balan played a pregnant woman looking for her absent husband in Kolkata during the Durga Puja celebration in 2012. Satyoki ‘Rana’ Sinha, portrayed by Chatterjee, offers her assistance.

Hemanter Pakhi, Hemlock Society, Shonar Pahar, Samantaral, Hercules, and Hawa Bodol, among others, are among the actor’s many films in the Bengali cinema industry. Traffic, Pari, Bulbbul, Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, Black Widows, and the forthcoming online series Aranyak are among his Hindi films.

“I’ve done a lot of stuff, particularly in Bengali movies.” Outside of Bengal, I don’t expect people to understand it all of the time. But what’s noteworthy to notice is that, because to the OTT revolution, people are now aware of my Bengali work, as Chatterjee explained in a recent interview.

During a recent business trip to Delhi, he stated a few people approached him and complimented his work. They found his Bengali flicks with subtitles after viewing his Hindi films such as Kahaani and others.

Hearing them piqued my interest. This is the revolution that is now taking place. I’d be a little upset because, despite the fact that I’ve done a lot of work since Kahaani, I’m still referred to as the Kahaani actor, which is still my major reference point. However, because of OTT, works like Pari and Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi have a longer shelf life and are more well-known. OTT is also giving Bengali films a new lease on life, according to him.

The 41-year-old actor, on the other hand, seems unconcerned whether some people recognise him from the thriller Kahaani, which has a cult following.

“People are usually looking for the largest common denominator, which in my case is Kahaani. It will always have a special place in our hearts “Added he.

When asked whether he wanted a prequel or spin-off of his character from Kahaani, Chatterjee said it would be a fantastic idea to explore Rana’s past in a prequel or spin-off because Ghosh just helmed Abhishek Bachchan as Bob Biswas.

As a viewer, Chatterjee said OTT has exposed him to films in a variety of languages, including Israeli, Turkish, Moroccan, South African, Polish, Scandinavian, and Icelandic.

He believes that in India, there is still a need to discuss film in other languages, such as Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, and Punjabi.

“A cinematic cultural exchange is taking place. People are becoming more aware of the identities of people from different parts of the country. In addition, the interchange of creative ideas has become much easier and more accessible “Added he.

Meanwhile, Chatterjee is excited about the arrival of Aranyak, a Hindi web series starring iconic 90s actress Raveena Tandon.

The Netflix series, directed by Vinay Waikul and produced by Rohan Sippy, is set in a tiny, foggy village where a foreigner goes missing, putting in motion a chain of events for a cop (Tandon) about to take a break.
