The high anticipated show, The Empire, which is based on the life of Mughal ruler Babur has finally released on Friday. The show features Kunal Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Dino Morea, Drashti Dhami in the lead roles and Mitakshara Kumar has directed the drama. The Empire has received a tremendous amount of positive response from the viewers. In the series, Kunal portrays the lead role of Mughal Emperor Babur. In response to this, the actor also revealed that he is overwhelmed by the response that he has received from public.

According to Pinkvilla, Kunal said, “I am really overwhelmed by the kind of response that I have got since the release of ‘The Empire’. It was a beautifully written book with some fascinating characters and we have all worked very hard to make it come alive and I’m very happy people are enjoying it.’’

Kunal always wanted to try performing action onscreen and therefore considering as an actor this historical drama is particularly significant for him. The dashing guy has just founded his production company, and he’s also working on an unnamed project.

The series is based on Alex Rutherford’s book Empire of the Moghul: Raiders from the North, which follows Babur’s life from the age of 14 to the time he established his empire and died at the age of 47.

Kunal made his film debut in 2004 with Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities. He rose to fame in Rang De Basanti. Later in his career, he appeared in films such as Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Aaja Nachle, Don 2, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, and Dear Zindagi.
