One of the most active “leading guys” in the OTT industry right now is Pankaj Tripathi. The actor will make an appearance in the third season of Mirzapur sometime in the next year, but before then, he will be seen repeating another role in Criminal Justice as lawyer Madhav Mishra. Pankaj and his two co-stars Shweta Basu Prasad and Aditya Gupta spoke to Hindustan Times about the program, how OTT has changed content, and the future of the Indian entertainment business days before the show starts streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

To portray Madhav Mishra in the Criminal Justice series for the third time, Pankaj Tripathi is returning. The actor says that while retaining complicated legal language is difficult, getting back into the character’s skin is not. Madhav Mishra is extremely similar to me, says Pankaj, who continues, “The difficult thing is memorizing the words. It’s actually me from 10 to 12 years ago. Therefore, it’s not difficult to enter into the role. However, I can’t recall the lines. That’s a real issue, and solving it will take a lot of effort. The point is, that I prefer to deliver my lines as a dialogue. Sometimes I immediately make little adjustments. However, in a courtroom, you must use legalese and cannot improvise.

Shweta Basu Prasad, who plays the prosecutor opposite of Madhav in the show, would be opposing Pankaj this time. Shweta explains, “She is a South Bombay girl, extremely distinct from Madhav’s beginnings. The actor claims that joining a well-known franchise with an actor of Pankaj’s level was both tough and exhilarating. The second time I’ve worked with Pankaj Ji is now. I like it a lot since I can learn a lot by watching him work. It’s thrilling but not particularly terrifying. Because we desire to learn and develop, we are artists. As a result, it’s really thrilling since acting is more about response than action.

Adhura Sach, in which Purab Kohli, Swastika Mukherjee, Gaurav Gera, and Deshna Dugad also appear, is about criminal justice. The program, which was directed by Rohan Sippy, will have its Disney+ Hotstar debut on August 26. The actor will subsequently be featured in the movie OMG 2 – Oh My God! 2 with Akshay Kumar after appearing in the Prime Video series Gulkanda Tales with Kunal Kemmu and Patralekha.
