Despite the current global expansion of streaming services, Prabhas has admitted he is nervous about making his OTT debut. With their own content, OTT services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+ Hotstar have been steadily winning over the hearts of viewers. The OTT sector saw a significant increase in popularity as theatres shuttered throughout the world due to the coronavirus epidemic. As the wait lengthened, many movies intended for theatrical distribution opted for online streaming instead. Even today, movies are still making their way to streaming services after their theatrical run.
Prabhas, who rose to fame after starring in the Baahubali film series, is hesitant to join OTT, in contrast to other actors in recent years. The actor stated that he would want to hold off on entering the OTT market for at least a few more years.
He revealed to Delhi Times “I suppose it is a safer choice for the producers to release some movies on OTT if they believe that viewers will choose to see them at home rather than at a theatre. All of my movies are currently big-screen releases.”
He said, “I may give it some thought in the future (exploring the OTT space). Although I am aware that we should all change, I won’t be considering the OTT area for another three to four years. I adore going to the movies and the associated experiences.”
Prabhas recently appeared in the romantic drama movie Radhe Shyam, which he co-starred in with Pooja Hegde. The mythical drama Adipurush, which also stars Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon, will be his next project. On January 12, 2023, the movie will have theatrical releases in Hindi, Telugu, and their dubs in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Additionally, he will appear in Project K, which also stars Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan, and Salaar, which also has Shruti Haasan and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
