Since theatres were forced to close owing to the Covid-19 outbreak, OTT services have exploded in popularity. Rather of endangering their lives by going to the theatre and becoming infected, a large portion of the audience has shifted to OTT platforms, and therefore there is a massive rise in its viewership. Due to a significant shift in audience, even filmmakers are turning towards digital streaming platforms to distribute their films and web series in order to reach a larger audience.
Two films are set to be released on OTT platforms that will take us back to a time when our soldiers gave their lives for the sake of their motherland, and when everyone played an important role in winning the war. Prior to Independence Day, these two films will undoubtedly instil greater patriotism in you.
- Shershaah (film)
In the film, Sidharth Malhotra will portray the role of Vikram Batra, a Param Vir Chakra awardee and army captain. This is an action film based on Vikram Batra’s sacrifice of his life for his homeland during the Kargil War in 1999. The film is directed by Vishnuvardhan and co-produced by Karan Johar, and it will release on August 12, on Amazon Prime Video.
- Bhuj: The Pride Of India (film)
The plot of the film is set during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, when the IAF airstrip at Bhuj was destroyed in combat. Following that, 300 indigenous women from Gujarat, commanded by IAF squadron leader Vijay Karnik, worked tirelessly to rebuild the airbase. This act of bravery was a reason that India won the war. The film is directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya. Ajay Devgn will be portraying the role of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, The film will release on August 13, on Disney Plus Hotstar.
