In Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix series The Watcher, Naomi Watts makes a triumphant return to horror. During an interview for her new film Lakewood, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Oscar-nominated actress tells Entertainment Weekly that she is all set to frighten the heck out of us once more, nearly 20 years after she became an iconic scream queen at the core of the 2002 blockbuster The Ring.
The Cut published an article in 2018 that revealed that a couple, Maria and Derek Broaddus, moved to a suburban New Jersey paradise in the summer of 2014. They are assaulted with frightening written notes shortly after moving into their ideal property. “Yeah that article is so freaky. That’s what got me in!” Naomi said as per Entertainment Weekly. She added that “I’m only just now getting into prep, we’re going to start shooting soon. It’s exciting, I can’t say much more.” Further, she also professed respect for her co-star Bobby Cannavale, who will play the main pair who is terrorised by a mysterious stalker. She said, “I’m thrilled to be working with Ryan, he seems to have the Midas touch. It’s a genre that you know I love.”
Meanwhile, Naomi is set to star in a remake of the 2014 Austrian horror thriller Goodnight Mommy, which follows a pair of twins who fear their mother — whose face is still bandaged as she recovers from facial surgery — isn’t the same person they once knew. The Watcher will be available on Netflix in the near future.
