On World Radio Day, Amazon Prime brings us the world premiere of ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’, starring Sara Ali Khan.
Sara posted on Instagram, “Desh ki kahaani, Usha ki Kurbani World Radio Day par! # AeWatanMereWaranOnPrime, March 21 only on @primevideoin.” The audio is Sara telling the listeners that India will soon wake up to an independent India. Sara runs a radio channel in the film.
The movie draws its inspiration from the real-life freedom fighter Usha Mehta’s life struggle. It pays homage to several heroes whose sacrifice helped India gain its freedom.
The film is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra. It is directed by Kannan Iyer and written by Darab Farooqui and Iyer. In a press note, Karan Johar states, “Ae Watan Mere Watan pays homage to the significant role radio played in uniting the country and fueling the fire in every Indian’s heart, further emboldening the Quit India Movement. The film has been a dream in making and I am excited to embark on this journey.”
The film stars along with Sara, Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’ Neil and Emraan Hashmi (guest appearance).
Incidentally, Sara will also be starring in Murder Mubarak due to release on Netflix on the 15th March, a week prior.
