Shahid Kapoor’s son gives him the best advice in the new teaser for Jersey.

Jersey is about “one man’s quest for the unattainable.” And, based on the teaser for the next Bollywood film, it may be Shahid Kapoor’s strongest performance in recent memory. In Jersey, Shahid portrays a father who is battling to live up to his son’s expectations. Jersey, which revolves around cricket, also includes Mrunal Thakur as his lady love, who appears to be both his strength and weakness, in addition to Pankaj Kapur.

The latest teaser for the sports drama depicts Shahid and his onscreen son’s closeness, as well as the latter’s faith in his father to make it through the Indian cricket squad. Shahid’s Arjun Talwar, a failing cricketer, is given a new lease on life when he sees his son’s faith in him, and he chooses to pursue his ambition of representing Team India, even if it means overcoming countless difficulties to prove himself to the selectors. The on-field scenes appear to provide some adrenaline-pumping moments in the flick.

Jersey is a Bollywood adaptation of the Telugu film of the same name, which won a National Award and starred Nani. The original sports drama, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, received honors at the 67th National Film Awards in 2019 for Best Telugu Film and Best Editing.

“I am a fan of the original film,” Shahid Kapoor earlier stated. Nani’s performance was fantastic. I was adamant about avoiding doing another remake. I was seeking for a compelling, unique, and original narrative. This one was a keeper for me. It struck a chord with me. It’s not easy to remake a film. There is a sense of obligation to preserve people’s memories of the original. It’s a lot more difficult. This was a tale that deserved to be shared. It inspired and taught me something that I will remember for the rest of my life.” He went on to say that the Jersey shoot took place in Chandigarh, while the cricket portion took place in Mohali.

The Hindi version was also directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Geetha Arts, Dil Raju Production, Sithara Entertainments, and Brat Films are the producers.

Jersey was originally scheduled to hit theatres on December 31, 2021. Due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases, it was postponed. The film will now be released in theatres on April 14. At the box office, it will compete with KGF: Chapter 2 and Beast.
