Gulzar has been the highest literary award, that is the Jnanpith Award which is a great honour. Shashi Tharoor praised Gulzar for his extraordinary services to Urdu poetry and said the award was ‘richly deserved.’
Shashi Tharoor tweeted, “Warmest congratulations to Gulzar Sahib on winning India’s highest literary award for lifetime achievement the Jnanpith Award, for his extraordinary services to Urdu poetry. Richly deserved! One of those rare accolades applauded both by the general public and the cognoscenti.”
Kangana posted a picture of Sanskrit scholar Jagadguru Rambhadracharya and Gulzar and wrote for both of them, “Jnanpith puraskar ke liye Hardik shubhkamnaye (Congratulations on winning Jnanpith Award).”
Gulzar, born Sampooran Singh Kalra, is celebrated for his works in Hindi cinema and Urdu poetry. Rambhadracharya, the founder and head of Tulsi peeth in Chitrakoot is a renowned spiritual leader, educator and writer of more than 240 books and texts, including four epics.
