Sid Makkar, who has appeared in famous programs such as Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharata Ki, has been absent from the television screen for quite some time. He just began work on Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii with actress Aditi Gupta, and he expresses his delight at returning to the industry. “It’s good to be on set, doing something different in front of my family and friends,” he adds.
“I wasn’t coming across jobs that I wanted to perform on television,” he says of his extended hiatus from television. Fortunately, I was occupied with OTT projects at the time. But then this program came along, and I fell in love with the premise. I’m a huge fan of the character. It feels like a natural extension of my personality.”
Sid has worked in cinema, television, and over-the-top (OTT) and believes that juggling all of the mediums has been enjoyable. “I began my profession by making a film. After that, I worked on television and in plays. I’ve played a wide range of roles. He explains, “I don’t want to limit myself, so I keep picking whatever comes my way.”
“I’ve always tried to play realistic parts,” he continues, “and today’s programming is similarly bent toward realistic stuff.”
“The last play that I performed was with Lillete Dubey called Where Did I Leave My Purdah,” he recalls of his post-pandemic theatre work. This was before to the outbreak of the pandemic. However, under the current circumstances, putting on a play is a difficult effort. I’m now working on two scripts, and acting in plays is something I really like.”
