Taapsee Pannu, has acted brilliantly in her sports biopic Shabaash Mithu. Based on cricket, the film was not received very warmly by the audience in theatres. However, the film has found its fan following on Netflix.
Taapsee’ s movie is trending on number 1 position ahead of Darlings. She adds, “Thankyou everyone, theatre mein na sahi, OTT pe toh pyar mila. Aur kafi bumper opening lagi hai yahan toh (if not in theatres, at least we got some love here. Got a bumper opening here.”
Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the film was released on July 15th, 2022. The movie is Mithali Raj’s achievements in bringing women to the forefront in cricket. From a child prodigy to the first and biggest superstar of women’ s cricket, the story is based on the life and struggles of Indian cricketer Mithali Raj.
The movie is also released on Voot Select. She writes, “I am very excited with its release on Voot Select as now the story will have the opportunity to reach a much wider audience, and hopefully inspire other young girls and women to follow their dreams and passion in sports, akin to the relentless spirit of India cricket superstar Mithali Raj.”
The excited Taapsee writes on Twitter, “Thankyou everyone! My phone hasn’t stopped buzzing since#ShabaashMithu has released on OTT platform I am not sure how I feel exactly coz I would have liked all of you to watch it in theatres but nevertheless I am glad you all saw our little gem. Hard work never goes unnoticed,” she says.
Wishing her fans for Independence Day, “Darkness cannot drive our darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that. Happy 75 years to our India. May we keep making her proud by being honest with that love.”
