Karisma Kapoor graced the singing show Indian Idol 12 this weekend with her presence. The actress had great fun on the show and shared an interesting anecdote from the film Dil To Pagal Hai which was released in 1997.
The film featured Karisma Kapoor alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. While Karisma Kapoor won millions of hearts with her role in the film, not many know that initially, she had rejected Dil To Pagal Hai because of Madhuri Dixit. The actress was afraid to compete with Madhuri Dixit in dance.
Karisma Kapoor shared some interesting anecdotes from her successful journey in the industry on the television show and also danced with host Aditya Narayan.
She said, “Every single heroine refused the Dil To Pagal Hai. The role came to me…it was a dance film and that too to work with opposite Madhuri Dixit. Everyone said, ‘No how can we dance alongside Madhuri Dixit ji.’ Initially, I too said no to it as it was a dance film and competition dance with Madhuri Dixit. I said, ‘This isn’t happening.”
Adding further she said, “Then finally, Yash ji and Adi (Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra) narrated the story to me. My mother told me, ‘You must take up the challenge. You are a big fan of Madhuri Dixit, you must do it. You work hard and you will shine.”
About Dil Toh Pagal Hai
Dil Toh Pagal Hai was helmed by late filmmaker Yash Chopra. In the film, Madhuri and Karisma played the role of a dancer who fell in love with a choreographer, played by Shah Rukh Khan. The love triangle creates a lot of drama in the film. The music of the film was a major hit with the audience.
Meanwhile, Karisma Kapoor made her OTT debut with Mentalhood. The series also featured Shruti Seth, Sandhya Mridul, Sanjay Suri, and Shilpa Shukla.
