Veteran actor Satish Kaul passed away today (April 10) after fighting a battle with Covid-19 in Ludhiana. He was admitted to Sri Rama Charitable Trust Hospital few days back as he was tested positive for covid-19. 

According to his sister, Satya Devi, he was admitted to the hospital after he developed fever from the last few days. She also confirmed about his death and mentioned that his funeral would be performed in Ludhiana on Sunday. Satya was taking care of him since last few years 

The actor began his career in early 70’s and was known for his role of Devraj Indra in Mahabharat. He has been featured in over 300 Punjabi and Hindi films. Apart from this, he was also seen in bollywood films like Karma, Prem Parbat, Warrant, Gunaho Ka Faisla, Bhakti Me Shakti, Ram Lakhan among others. On small screen besides Mahabharat, he also worked in Doordarshan series Vikram Aur Betaal. Satish won the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award for his contribution to Punjabi cinema in 2011.

In May 2020, the actor was struggling with basic amenities of life and asked for financial help from the film fraternity. Before this, in 2019 Captain Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab, helped the actor financially. He took to twitter and wrote, “Wish iconic Punajbi actor Satish Kaul ji good health and recovery. Have released Rs 5 lakh for his medical treatment through DC Ludhiana. We stand committed to helping all those who have contributed to our state and its culture.” 

The 73 year old actor is survived by his sister. He moved to Punjab from Mumbai to start an acting school in 2011, which wasn’t a success.
