SEOUL – August 7, 2023 – Global Gen Z Icons TOMORROW X TOGETHER (SOOBIN, YEONJUN, BEOMGYU, TAEHYUN, HUENINGKAI) brought the heat to Chicago as they illuminated the stage with their history making performance at 2023 LOLLAPALOOZA.
On August 5, TOMORROW X TOGETHER became the first K-pop group to headline LOLLAPALOOZA captivating an effervescent crowd with their unforgettable performance. The trailblazing global phenomenon’s 90 minute career-spanning set was livestreamed on YouTube, Weverse Live, and Hulu (U.S. only), which simultaneously drew in roughly 119,000 and 75,000 viewers on YouTube and Weverse Live (excl. TV app), respectively.
When the countdown to the performance at BUD LIGHT STAGE began, the excitement and anticipation of the massive crowd who had been eagerly awaiting the band’s arrival reached its peak. At 8:30PM, the five members ran out to thunderous cheers and opened their history making performance with Rock based tracks “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You) feat. Seori” and “Dear Sputnik”, which added fuel to the energy on site.
Accompanied by a live band, TOMORROW X TOGETHER presented a versatile 20-track set list complete with music from their jam-packed discography. The set list included YEONJUN and HUENINGKAI’s unit performance of “Lonely Boy” and SOOBIN, BEOMGYU, and TAEHYUN’s unit performance of “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go”. Coi Leray also made a special appearance for a fresh mashup of “Happy Fools (feat. Coi Leray) and viral hit “Players.”
The audience came together with the band throughout the night as they sang along to the music, most notably for the unreleased self-written track “Blue Spring”. Although the track has not been officially released, tens of thousand of fans sang in unison as they lit the sky with their phone flashlights.
The quintet also presented a premiere live performance of summer anthem “Do It Like That”, a collaborative single with Jonas Brothers released in July. The band had released a remix of the track with Alan Walker earlier this month and while on stage, surprised the audience with news of another upcoming remix with Jax Jones.
TOMORROW X TOGETHER reflected on the historic night and raised anticipation for the future commenting, “2023 LOLLAPALOOZA was so much fun. We had an amazing summer here in Chicago. Meeting our old fans, and hopefully, new fans tonight as headliners is truly a dream come true. Thank you to everyone for giving us a night to remember. Including the rest of our world tour and a new album, we’ll be back soon with even more amazing activities, so stay tuned!”
Topped with glittering fireworks, the triumphant night ended with a festive performance of “Sugar Rush Ride”, the lead single of the groundbreaking act’s Billboard 200 No. 1 and RIAA Gold Certified album The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION
