Mallika took to her Instagram story today morning and wrote, “She left us last night. My whole heart. My whole life. The only god I know. My amma I am sorry I couldn’t save you. You fought so hard my mama. My precious. My heart. You are my whole life.”

In the next story, she wrote, “It’s not about my loss and grief. It’s about a life cut short. I always knew I didn’t deserve her. But she deserved to live. I don’t know if I will ever be able to pray again.”

Actress-comedian Kusha Kapila also took to the Instagram story to pay tribute to Chinna. She penned a long heartfelt note, “Chinna Dua fought a long, hard battle against covid. Every time Mallika would post an update, one would say a little prayer for her recovery. I know because many of you DMed me saying this. Her news of passing away is devastating. In the little time that I got to know her, I knew this was a woman who could light up any room.”

“Much of what I know of her is through Mallika and the way she would speak of her was proof of what an inspiration she was to her. There are fewer things more wholesome than Mallika speaking about her mom. You could see her eyes light up. When she would retell her jokes, I would laugh with her and when she would speak about the food she made, my mouth the food she made, my mouth would water. No one could have seen this coming,” the comedian wrote.

She added “I will remember her as the woman who wore the most beautiful sarees and when she wore them, clicked the most beautiful pictures and when she uploaded them, wrote the most elaborate captions to go with them and never failed to mention- please swipe and see all the pics. And we would swipe and see all. Rest in peace, Chinna Dua. Praying for the entire family.”
