Veteran actress Surekha Sikri passes away due to cardiac arrest today, July 16, in Mumbai. She was 75. Her manager confirmed the news of her demise and said that she passed away earlier this morning. She is survived by her son Rahul Sikri.
Surekha Sikri was not in the best of her health for quite some time now. She suffered a brain stroke last year and a paralytic stroke earlier in 2018. The veteran actress’s manager confirmed the news and said, “Three-time national award-winning actress, Surekha Sikri has passed away following a cardiac arrest earlier this morning at the age of 75. She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke. She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time. Om Sai Ram.”
About Surekha Sikri Career
Surekha Sikri made her acting debut in 1978 with Kissa Kursi Ka. She got married to Hemant Rege and they have a son together, Rahul Sikri. Her prominent works in the entertainment industry include TV show Balika Vadhu, movies like Badhaai Ho, Maha Kumbh: Ek Rahasaya, Ek Kahani, Banegi Apni Baat, Kesar, Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani, Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil… Indumati Lala Mehra, Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar, Kehna Hai Kuch Mujhko, Saher, Samay, CID and Just Mohabbat, among others. Surekha Sikri has won three national awards in her career.
The veteran actress was last seen in an anthology in 2020 directed by Zoya Akhtar.
