Veteran writer and filmmaker Sagar Sarhadi passed away due to heart problem in Mumbai on Monday morning (March 22). The filmmaker was admitted in the cardiac care hospital in Sion recently in the ICU where he passed away at the age of 88.

Ashoke Pandit, filmmaker, shared the news of his demise and wrote, “Sad to know about the demise of Sagar Sarhadi ji a well known writer, director due to heart attack. Some of his well known films as writer #kabhiekabhie #noorie #chandni #doosraAadmi #silsila. He also wrote and directed #bazaar. It’s a great loss to the  film industry. Om Shanti!”

Jackie Shroff also took to his Instagram account to pay the tribute. The actor shared the black and white picture of the filmmaker and wrote, “Will Miss you…. Rest In peace”. 

Many other celebrities from the film fraternity took to twitter to offer their condolences.

He became popular with Yash Chopra’s film Kabhi Kabhi (1976) starring Amitabh Bachchan and Raakhee. The writer was also known for his work in the films like ‘Kaho Naa Pyar Hai’, ‘Silsila’, ‘Deewana’, ‘Chandni’.
